our approach

We Utilize a 4 Phase Approach in our Think Education Counseling Program.

Phase 1 Self Reflection

  • Student and family initial conference to understand interests, goals, and dreams
  • Analysis of school records, transcripts & extracurricular background
  • Surveys about learning styles and interests
  • Student self-reflection on long term goals, discussion of possible majors and careers
  • Focus on important college factors
  • Standardized testing planning

Phase 2 College/University Search

With the important factors in mind, we guide the student in their college research. Once the student has narrowed down their areas of interest, Think Education guides the student to build a college list keeping in mind the attributes most important to them.

As a team, we decide on the final college list that emphasizes best fit. Think Education defines fit as three pronged: academic, social and financial.

Phase 3 The Application Process

Discuss admission options and strategies, including Early Action, Early Decision, Rolling Admissions and Regular Admissions.

Develop a specific plan of action for managing application deadlines and for tracking supporting documentation.

Input on how to get the best letters of recommendation and discuss the right timing for requesting them.

Assist on all of the application components.

We support and encourage students brainstorming and introspection for essay ideas.

We prepare students to get the most out of college visits.

Phase 4 The Final Decision & the Transition from High School to College

We analyze the options available at the end of the process and help the student and family make the best decision.

We help the student make a smooth transition from high school to college in a final end of senior year meeting.
